VERBS IN PAST
We clasify the verbs in past in two categories:

Regular and Irregular verbs

REGULAR VERBS
Are those verbs in which we add -ed at the end of it, but there are three pronunciation rules to follow:

  • IF A VERB ENDS IN  UNVOICED SOUNDS -t  (ss, s, sh, ch, x, k, p) 
ex. wash (washed), kiss(kissed)


  • IF A VERB ENDS IN VOICED SOUNDS   -d   (  l, n, m, g, z, v) 

ex. call (called) love (loved)

  • IF A VERB ENDS IN (T OR D)      -id  
                  ex. taste (tasted) add (added)
                                            


IRREGULAR VERBS
Irregular verbs are common verbs in the English language that do not follow the simple system of adding “d” or “ed” to the end of the word to form the past tense, they should be learnt by heart.
